An Update on Technofascism

"An Update on Technofascism

We got a bad version of it and it is happening in Big Tech right now. However, what I was envisioning is much more progressive.

Technofascism was the idea I pushed a lot before I invented Gangster Bolshevism (on the now defunct website freemediaproductions.info). Anyways, when I “forged the term” I imagined something much more progressive than what we have in Big Tech. We have a big tech oligopoly and it is resulting in mass censorship, mass layoffs and all the general abuses of power that come with big corporate rule. It sounds funny, but I was envisioning a “progresive technofascism.”

With the way big tech is going right now, Ted Kaczynski appears to be right. Center left liberalism (not true class based leftism) is being pushed vertically while freedoms are eroding. America does not have a true movement for the working class, but only petty liberalism. We can disparage the term “technofascism” by calling this entire situation of corporate dictatorship technofascism.

What I envisioned was more like a technocracy where automation and high tech is taken to such a degree that everyone can live easy. A progressive dictatorship by sound minds, but not a private sector corporate oligopoly. I envisioned progress to the extent that even the unemployed live well. This coincides well with policies such as Andrew Yang’s UBI (Universal Basic Income) and Bernie Sanders’s “Job Guarantee.” Technological progress will be so great that the economy will essentially automate itself. Yet, we would get the benefits of these corporations without the drawbacks.

Fighting extreme surveillance is a legitimate problem and something that would have to be guarded against. I suppose a whole new movement to protect privacy would arise under technofascism. We are far from the ideal but keep those ideals high. Progressive technofascism may play a role in the future."
