Just a reminder that the Arctic Vortex is the thing *protecting you* from the Arctic cold at the surface level -- when a 'Stratospheric Warming' event occurs, as it does every January in the Northern Hemisphere, to some extent, the protective Vortex weakens -- some years more than others.
This year's warming event was mind-bogglingly intense, and I'm afraid I must report the demise of the late Arctic Vortex of Winter 2023-2024. It will be missed.
