KSA's Line City: Bad for Carrington, Bad for the Rising Sun

Macrobius

Megaphoron

Today's Thought: I have no idea why KSA would build 170 km city oriented East to West. A Carrington event will toast the wiring one day. N to S would be so much safer. They'd better pray southwards that a pole shift will change the magnetic equator.

Same comment for a high atmosphere EMP burst, though not so bad. Probably terminal though.

Longitude matters.

is this bcuz the magnetic lines of Da Earf run norf-souf?

I hav never considered that polarity matters in a case like this, seems plausible tho

Yes - and the induced ground currents from what is essentially a solar EMP pulse will mostly be induced in East-West running wires.

This is what destroys equipment in that scenario (the surge in induced current)

I-90 is a goner.

For a high altitude EMP blast, the diagram of the footprint is called a 'smile' diagram [1]
