Sending mass email via VBULLSHIT

I am unable to send email from the old VBULLSHIT forum

I have worked thru the possible issues in the VB manuel to this point:

Then try the vB email functions again. If it still doesn't work, then this is either a server and/or mailbox issue. By default vB uses PHP's mail() function for all its email and uses the SMTP server specified in php.ini. If PHP and the mail server are configured correctly then email will work. You can view the details here: http://us3.php.net/mail/

I have checked the php.ini in the pubic html dir, there is nothing about any SMTP server

manuel continues:

if all else fails you can switch to the SMTP mail option to see if this works better for you. These settings are here:

Admin CP -> vBulletin Options -> Email Options -> SMTP Email -> Yes

Then fill out the appropriate SMTP settings for your account and server.

OKKK... I can do this but dunno how to find the info I need to fill out these fields

SMTP is so screwed...

I have no idea why ANYONE bother with email these days.

We need to aim higher and better, in the Crust.

But if we can bring a few Crustaceans back... You sonofabitch, I'm in.

Hope it works. Thanks for doin' this, guys.

Most c-panel type hoasts have a way to run a mailing list and instructions how to do it (separate from using vBull) -- if you cull the list you could likely get a mailing list going.

I don't recall if list services such as MailChimp have free tiers.

GOTCHA.... so this means basically running the list as a BATCH amirite, so that recipient dont see the email addresses of everyone else the mail gets copied to?

curious...

Yes - mailing list software definitely will not want to leak your entire list to all members, though persons who reply to the list (if that's enabled) would reveal their address. It's a fair amount of configuration but might be worth it.
