Are Southron Americans Going to Die from Wet Bulb Temperature this weekend?

Web Bulb Temperature is a hard limit for human survival... there are stories going around the web suggesting that a large part of the Confederacy is going to die. omg Greta was right we're ngmi -- better surrender to the (((commies))) and the WEF and Xi ... *RIGHT NOW*

This is one of those cases that 'reader context' is actually useful.

WBGT is used by the military to determine when outdoor activity. It uses, in the formula, temperature, humidity, and solar radiation exposure.

The quickest way to negate WBGT is to get out of the sun. WBT is harsher -- you die inside. Not same.

Good to gno- heat index is only a meazhure of temp in the shade, NOT direct sun lite

it always seems that direct sun increases the perceived temp up by 10 or mayb even 20 degrees F,

it also seems that when Da Earf is closest to Da Sun (in January) it bumps up the perceived temp some altho this is offset by a more oblique angle thru Da Atmosfere at the mid and higher latitudes

From Tunis thread: https://tunisbayclub.com/index.php?...-from-wet-bulb-temperature-this-weekend.2209/
94F? That’s so mild.

The problem is wet bulb temperature and that part is not a lie.

The wet-bulb temperature (WBT) is the temperature read by a thermometer covered in water-soaked (water at ambient temperature) cloth (a wet-bulb thermometer) over which air is passed.[1] At 100% relative humidity, the wet-bulb temperature is equal to the air temperature (dry-bulb temperature); at lower humidity the wet-bulb temperature is lower than dry-bulb temperature because of evaporative cooling.

The wet-bulb temperature is defined as the temperature of a parcel of air cooled to saturation (100% relative humidity) by the evaporation of water into it, with the latent heat supplied by the parcel.[2] A wet-bulb thermometer indicates a temperature close to the true (thermodynamic) wet-bulb temperature. The wet-bulb temperature is the lowest temperature that can be reached under current ambient conditions by the evaporation of water only.

Even heat-adapted people cannot carry out normal outdoor activities past a wet-bulb temperature of 32 °C (90 °F), equivalent to a heat index of 55 °C (131 °F). A reading of 35 °C (95 °F) – equivalent to a heat index of 71 °C (160 °F) – is considered the theoretical human survivability limit for up to six hours of exposure.[3][4]

This should not be confused with Wet-bulb globe temperature.

The issue here is propaganda... WBGT (note: *not* to be confused with WBT as the article says)... THEY THINK YOU ARE STUPID.

WBGT adds in exposure to solar radiation. Your two actual choices are 1/ get out of the sun and stay in the shade and 2/ if necessary, reduce humidity by any means (air conditioning is ideal if you have grid power but you might not one day)

No, the American South is not in danger of extinction due to global warming. But people who are too stupid to stay in the shade might get Heat Stroke, and some ngmi for sure.

The black globe on the meter below is used to measure 'black body radiation absorption' over a sphere, and it gets *added* to WBT to get WBGT

If the two things on the right go above survival limits for humans *then* you are in deep shit if the power goes out (if it does, open buckets of Damp Rid, a chemical deliquescent) and confine yourself to a small indoor space until the danger passes. But that is not today's emergency.

In Afghanistan, where summers and winters boath reach extreme temperatures, tents with feet seem to have great survival chances

The hottest deserts also enjoy dry heat, enabling "swamp" coolers to function well:

The above pictured device operates on a centuries old principal:

...wind is directed into underground aquifers known as qanat. They are then cooled due to the low humidity desert air causing water to evaporate. The cooled air then flows through the interior of the yakhchal, cooling the interior...
