Regarding the preceding post: (on the alleged Byzantine origin of certain Yuletide related customs):

The parallel existence of functionally analogous customs between two distinct population groups descended from one and the same proto-European Aryan nation is not indicative of "cultural diffusion". There is no evidence to justify the supposition of assymetrical cultural transmission between one people and another (regardless of direction). In this case, it is illustrative of the cultural commonalities that you would expect from the common descent of the culturally dominant populations of Teutondom and Byzantium from the same antehistorical Aryan fore-nation, wherein the forementioned customs were practiced.

As regards the original homeland of this people, the evidence that does exist is strongly indicative of a probable homeland situated within the northwestern peninsula of continental Eurasia at some point around the commencement of the last quarter of the current neoglacial epoch.

The customs in question not only anteceded the historical emergence of the various Germanic and Byzantian peoples as distinct Aryan nations; the cusoms were practiced by the nation that subsequently evolved into the Ur-Germanic nation, the Ur-Slavic nation, the Ur-Latinate nation, the Ur-Celtic nation, and so on. Some of those nations fell under alien influence due to miscegenation, both with the indigenous (pre-Aryan) as well as with certain extra-european strains in the eastern and southern reigons of the European penisula; some got taken over by other peoples and had an alien culture imposed on the; and some abandoned their original customs of their own accord.

But wherever those customs are still found to exist as part of the traditional cultural practices of this or that European nation, it is not because of cultural diffusion but because they are all descended from an ante-Christian proto-nation wherein such customs were universallly observed.
