The Edomite Question is one of the most deranged narratives in the abrahamic tradition.
"Europeans are Edomites!" is the rabbinic rhetoric toward the Question. Jews claim Europeans are descended from Edomites because Romans mixed with Edom, and then mixed with the rest of Europe. But the Roman genetic signature is practically non existent in the British Isles despite the 400 year military occupation, and is absolutely non existent in Deutschland, and germanic lands generally. Same goes for Slavs, Balts, and Finno Ugrians.
When a Jewish website described the characteristics of Edom with a sort of teaser saying, "Do you recognize them yet?" with the idea that one would automatically think, "Oh yeah that's obviously the Europeans!" I was thinking "That's the Jews". At first it hadn't clicked that I was reading a Jewish account of Edom, for there are European accounts too. The European accounts, often Christian Identity, are opposite. As said, it is a question given to deranged reaching.
It is an important question though because when Jews call Euros Edomites it is barely concealed code for genocidal intent. I am assuming readers understand that Yahweh calls for the eradication of Edom, in no uncertain terms.
Obviously, this is the Jewish religious right narrative. The Jewish secular narrative, i.e. the communist narrative, says nearly the same thing minus the biblical phraseology, "All Whites are racist!"
The answer to the Edom question is to backload semantically as is done with the quip “An antisemite used to be someone who hates Jews, but is now someone who Jews hate”. I don’t consider that quip precise but it shows semantically how the concept of Edom is weaponized. There is nothing holy about any of it. It is common religio-political denunciation.
Another way of saying this is that any truth that lies in the Edom question is being projected into it for political reasons.
Yet, as already said, when Jews label Europeans Edomites they are communicating something factual, an intent to harm.
