Who's your favourite actor ?

.. ? ( see thread title ).

.. as for me...

.. Ron Eldard..

.. maybe the fact that he is not a 'mega-star' like people like Jack Nicholson , Madonna et al gives you a clue that I personally do not judge actors on their prominence-level but rather on their ability to act, quite and simply put ..

Eldard starred in the movies 'Sleepers' ( '96 ) , 'The Runner' ( '99 ),' Black Hawk Down' ( 2001) and others..

.. I personally happen to think he is quite good at playing 'bad-ass'-characters.. :D

In my honest opinion he brings some excitement into some movies....

- - - -

.. so.. that's it for me.. who are your personal fav. actors ?

.. one of Eldard's roles in the end, can't resist..

.. him playing the character John Riley in 'Sleepers', allegedly based on a true story of a man who grew up in New York's "Hell's Kitchen" in the 60s..

( Viewer Discretion advise.. If you have problems with killing-scenes in movies you might want to stop watching this clip at about 4:00.. )

.. a scene built on an alleged revenge of two thugs concerning a man who abused them as kids when they were inmates at a youth detention zone..

No matter whether you think this movie is based on a true story or not ( many doubted the authenticity.. ) I think Eldard played his role well..

.. concerning Ron , gotta say , once again, as so often, not sure if one can always trust wikipedia-statements..

.. it says he is of Irish and Scottish descent. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Ron_Eldard
Yet...the last name 'Eldard' actually sounds quite scandinavian.

...just a little pondering on my part.

... but maybe, what everyone can agree on is that wikipedia-facts can be wrong..

.. gotta admit, I recently got some negative feedback elsewhere on the net for questioning the reliability of Wikipedia, lol..

I do not know how many people in online communities maybe are registered contributors to wikipedia, naturally, haha..

Anyway, you can't trust everything on the web , which is redundant to say.

Wikipedia is generally OK as long as it’s not political in which case it’s just shit like propaganda of the worst kind.

Just wondering.. Do you post that because you are a catholic / supporter of this view yourself or maybe because I pointed attention to that movie "Sleepers" in which Eldard starred which contains a Catholic priest making a false testimony in court as a favour to boys he knew during their childhood?

Sorry but I don't think I have seen the same picture..

Two examples..

( Chris Benoit was a pro wrestler who is said to have killed wife along with his son and after that having committed suicide... the case was all over the news back then... there was a wikipedia controversy concerning him..)

( John Todd claimed to have been an ex-member of the Illuminati / New World Order movement... one wouldn't know which info to trust concerning him)

.. I might add that there is s whole youtube-section called 'Wikipedia -Fact or Fiction?' in which people ( like musicians for example) take a stand concerning claims on them on Wikipedia..

Just sayin' ..

.. I'll admit though that wikipedia is one of the net's biggest projects. An alleged online encyclopedia to which many people can add their alleged wisdom...

But.. no wonder a lot of crazy stuff happens there when it is supposed to be built on the contributions of 'ordinary readers '..

.. I might add that certain pages do not even exist at wikipedia , by which I mean, you search for maybe certain people , institutions et al and either you do not find anything or for some reason the entry has been removed..

Concerning point number two , yes, it may be due to the reason that some people may indeed be spouting b.s. about certain people.. Maybe polarising people..

Still , wikipedia is a project..

Hmmmm.. for some reason, using the expression 'a project', I see some kind of similarity to, well, other objects to which the term is applied....

.. lol, as it happens, guys , wiki even has a site on this very own topic..
https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Reliability_of_Wikipedia

Though a wikipedia statement questioning the reliability of wikipedia itself somehow feels like a horoscope predicting " you might be greatly disappointed should this /that not come to pass.." .. lol.

But.. two thumbs up for honesty ..

Baby steps towards self-conscious AIs.

Mitchell and Webb nail it:

.. oh, and by the way, didn't just go to wikipedia and look that up lol

I think Mitchell and Webb aim to be comedians.

Go figure. At least they have backups ;)

Sorry pal , only now realised you edited your post with some more ..

Ahhhh yes, the wayback machine.... :D

Man, have I already made experiences with that ...

Fascinating to see sites, for example, which may have gone online in '97 and went offline in '99, lol ..

But.. the site you posted is great :)

Weibull was white as fuck. 'Bathtub distribution tells all'. Game over for other races. At least at /our/ latitudes.

We need to remember that, as far as Nordstream is concerned, we stand on the shoulders of giants and Titans.

Ernst Hjalmar Waloddi Weibull (18 June 1887 – 12 October 1979) was a Swedish civil engineer, materials scientist, and applied mathematician. The Weibull distribution is named after him.

Education and career

Weibull joined the Swedish Coast Guard in 1905 as a midshipman. He moved up the ranks with promotion to sublieutenant in 1907, Captain in 1916 and Major in 1940. While in the coast guard he took courses at the Royal Institute of Technology. In 1924 he graduated and became a full professor.[1] He obtained his doctorate from the University of Uppsala in 1932.[1] He was employed in Swedish and German industry as a consulting engineer.

In 1914, while on expeditions to the Mediterranean, the Caribbean and the Pacific Ocean on the research ship Albatross, Weibull wrote his first paper on the propagation of explosive waves. He developed the technique of using explosive charges to determine the type of ocean bottom sediments and their thickness.[3] The same technique is still used today in offshore oil exploration.
