Why the Chinese Internet Is Cheering Russia’s Invasion (or, third world sympathies for Russia)

If the Soviet union was repudiated, Putin sort of repudiated the repudiation of the soviet union. He didn't bring it back, but he discredited those who brought down the Soviet Union. China and Russia had an infight in the Sino-Soviet split, but that's not going to put them on opposite sides globally.

Madagascar's President Andry Rajoelina has sacked his foreign minister, Richard Randriamandranto, without giving an explanation but a week after Madagascar voted at the UN to condemn Russia's "illegal annexations" of Ukrainian territory.

On Tuesday, before a planned trip to Morocco, the president signed the repeal decree dismissing his minister. "The Minister of Defense is in charge of the interim," said the decree, which was released to the media.

In the face of Russia's invasion of Ukraine, Madagascar has adopted a non-aligned policy, despite the invitation from the European Union and the United States to condemn Russia.

But on October 12, Madagascar, along with 142 other countries, condemned Russia's "illegal annexations" in Ukraine, in sharp contrast to the political line taken by the country since the beginning of the war.

On Saturday, the public TVM channel broadcast reports accusing the foreign minister of having taken this decision without consulting either the head of state or the prime minister.

The information was relayed by the Malagasy press on Monday, accusing the minister of insubordination.

And on Tuesday at the National Assembly, Richard Randriamandranto refused to answer questions from the press, saying that "we must not create a rift.

For the opposition, the national coordinator of the HVM party, Rivo Rakotovao, the minister "has only played the role of fuse to correct a diplomatic error".

This poll was taken in the biggest Chinese cities, so it probably had the biggest possible share of liberal cosmopolitans:

Poll reveals proportion of Chinese believing Russian special op in Ukraine is self-defense

Only 21% of Chinese respondents said that Russia's actions "contradict international law and should be opposed"

TOKYO, November 30. /TASS/. Nearly 40% of Chinese citizens consider the Russian special military operation in Ukraine as an act of self-defense in response to NATO's eastward expansion, according to the results of a survey conducted by Japanese Genron NPO and China International Communication Group (CICG) among its residents.

According to the poll, 39.5% of Chinese respondents believe the Russian operation to be "an act of self-defense against the backdrop of NATO's eastward expansion." Another 29% slammed Moscow's actions as ‘wrong’, but urged that the circumstances pointed out by the Russian side must be taken into account.

Only 21% of Chinese respondents said that Russia's actions "contradict international law and should be opposed."

This point of view was also supported by 73% of Japanese respondents. The option mentioning the need to take into account Moscow's position was chosen by over 10% of those polled, and only about 1% stated that Russia acted within the framework of the right of self-defense.

The poll was conducted from July to September of this year. Some 1,000 people were polled in Japan and 1,528 respondents shared their opinion in ten major Chinese cities, including Beijing and Shanghai.

They must be having the worst time of their lives.

I wouldn't call it a left wing. I would call it liberal. They only want to be pro-Taiwan.
Western Communists favor the Chinese model + infinite Western style "rights" of course. Which is incoherent and obviously duplicitous.

But China is allied with Capitalist Moscow.

This is so awkward.
